In Odessa!
Hello Everyone! Our appointment at the NAC was yesterday. At first we were told we could not get the boys we had in mind, because they went were not in the database. There are 24,ooo orphans in this country, and it could be difficult to find them if that was incorrect.
Bob had had the distinct sense that the Lord was with us all along, so we were confident He would not drop us now. Also I recalled the words of Jesus that were are to speak to the mountain to move. So we quietly did so and began plowing through the mountains of huge binders with page after page after page of children's faces. No Z and no S.
We kept praying as our translator went out to call his supervisor. He came back in, and the lady and he continued searching by name in cyrillic and we by face. Eventually they each came up with one, S. The picture was of when he was 3 or so , as cute as a button in overalls, his adorable little smile, and distinctive features we had missed the first time through because the photo was so outdated. Big Smiles of relief all round, and we were on our way!!
We took the night train, bumpity bump : ) to Odessa and a taxi brought us here to our apartment. In the midst of the culture shock of our surroundings, here I sit in this apt with the internet writing to you!! Praise the Lord for HE IS GOOD!
Our man is hard at work getting permission to visit the orphanage which is withion walking distance, and we are unpacking for a week plus stay. He is in a hurry to get back so we are happy with that. If possible we will go see the boys and they will know today. Will let you know. Thank you all so much for your prayers for stamina and health. More good news tomorrow. I love you all sooooo far away. God bless you all.
Off to buy drinking water.
