Run, Boys, Run
Bob is coming up on one year after heart surgery in September. They didn't tell me this, but apparently it takes about a year to feel well. Bob is definitely feeling well! He likes his job and when he comes up for air from that, he works on the house.
Yeah, Bob!
He writes from Michigan:
"Rob's track activity has been so low key (Rob is low key!) that I was taken aback today when he lettered in track (one school letter for your school jacket) is awarded to one athlete in each sport. He also got a nice certificate, a winged foot pin and his 2nd leitenant bar."
Rob is a help to Dad as the two of them get the Michigan house ready for us to move back up in less than a month. He has had a year of considerable growth as he has had to figure many things out for himself and drive himself everywhere. Our happy, easy going Rob will not find being on his own in college hard after this year.
Yeah, Rob!
Saturday morning, God willing, Peter will race in the Mississippi Meltdown, 5K race sponsored by the St. Dominic's Hospital Heart clinic to combat childhood obesity. Last year was the first run of its kind and had about 300 participants. Peter will run as a 'child' because his 15th birthday is not until June 28 when he'd run as an adult.
By the way, Peter is not obese, he watches the quantity of food he eats (sugar doesn't count), he is tall and lanky and lopes along like a real athlete. Woe to Peter if he runs not. Remember back when the word we all associated with Peter was "annoying?" Well, believe it or not, Peter now has a few social skills!
Yeah Peter!
After a difficult year of change, Dad heading up north, and then leaving home schooling for a huge public middle school, James the survivor has managed to make mostly 90's, and was exempt on nearly all his exams this week. His teachers call him 'an asset' to their classes.
James drives me around now... he and Peter have called a truce... and Maggie and he are good buddies. I believe God has given James a big sister to tease and love in place of his big sister Tasia in Ukraine, who, a very long time ago, was sold by his grandmother to a family who could afford to feed her. This Friday our James celebrates his 16th birthday.
Yeah, James!
Yeah, God!
P.S. Maggie's report will be along shortly, after we all pray a little more about where our sweet Mimi will go and what she will do come moving day in June.
