Stretching Fa-i-t-h
Only 1 1/2 days until the South Africa team leaves. Some of our dear street folks at the Bible study Sunday evening were concerned that the team members, who also work downtown, may meet with head hunters over in Africa.
They were reassured that God would protect them, and that if God saw fit for them to lay down their lives, Sylvia and some other believers would be here. In fact we would make Thanksgiving dinner and lead the Bible Studies while they were gone. Dear Lord, send help.
At the homeless church in the park Sunday morning little Donald with the white beard and the pegleg promised to pray for them, and so did Jimmy Carwash and others.
Maggie has a way of telling it straight to those guys and they still like her. One guy came up to her to inform us that "that one over there" is a con artist. She just laughed and said, "It takes one to know one...(smile)...I wonder where you got that snazzy outfit." When he said he got all dressed up for us girls, she warned him not to propose to her.
Later Mr. Bill handed her the mike and she preached a few minutes. She told the men that in Africa the people do not have social welfare and other helps; they must depend entirely on God. "Grow your faith and learn to truly know God," she said.
