Fawn and Henry
We didn't know what God had planned for Fawn, my new Black/Vietnamese friend, and her 14 year old son, Henry. She and I just literally cried outloud to God and wept together on the phone last Thursday. She was feeling so depressed, and he was having trouble in school. Their welfare check barely covered rent and utilities (In this state there is more need than welfare money), and they'd heard gun shots outside there window the night before.
I mentioned the two of them to the ladies at Curves, who had also noticed her, and in one day I had a car bulging with nice clothes, a bunch of jackets, a remote toy four wheeler, an offer of a Kroger shopping card, a proposal that Curves adopt their family, and two invitations for her to apply to work at nails shops near here!!
Best of all, the next day, Fawn called to say she had a new job down the street from her.
Tonight when Maggie and I drove to their apartement to get her and Henry for the Bible Study at Lancaster's, Henry walked up and shook hands with me. He is a darling, tall, handsome, black boy with a twinkle in his eye. Maggie says, just like Marcel, the other young man the Lord has given us to look out for.
Interestingly, this Friday night till Sunday morning our three guys and their brand new Boy Scout troop, with Dad as an assistant, plan on camping in the back of our property. Maybe the inner city boys can join them. Wouldn't it be just like God!
All that and a bag o'chips too!
