Ten Rules

We felt that since God waited a while after He delivered the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt before giving them the House Rules, we'd do the same with our boys. For the fifty days between the Exodus and Mt. Sinai, when He laid down the Law, He mostly just nurtured them, loved on them, protected them, fed them and clothed them.

Over the past month, we have spoken with our boys about swearing and about obeying their parents, but apart from that Bob had not given them a formal lesson on The Ten Commandments or an explanation as to how God is the One responsible for setting the rules at our place.

So today he did it. In simple English he went down the list in Exodus 20. The boys seemed to understand. Almost too well they interjected with enthusiastic dramatizations of "Thou shalt not steal" and "Thou shalt not kill", and looked down at their laps when he explained about taking the Name of the LORD in vain.

The law of the Lord is sweeter than honey in the honeycomb. Later they wanted to sing The Lord is My Shepherd along with Keith Green.
